I have been living in my apartment since July of last year and have never really figured out what to do with this giant blank wall right next to my bed. I have some odds and ends that I could hang on it, but nothing has seemed quite right. Well, enough is enough. If I can build a walk-in closet to house my slinky t-shirt collection, I can surely make this blank wall into a work of art. Some ideas I’ve had: create a giant cork board onto which I can tack my dreams; one main decorative statement like Marvin the Martian; a beyond-cliche smattering of quirky vintage paintings; commission Banksy for a one-of-a-kind masterpiece. A blank wall for the taking in Manhattan? jBlog belatedly inspired.
Okay, I did it! My supplies: grommets from M&J Trimming in midtown, an old pair of pliers and a bralette from Gap. The resulting product is a bra covered in studs that vaguely resembles a whorish bathing suit top. However, I shant be deterred and plan on wearing this sucker bowling, yes bowling, tomorrow night. What you can’t quite see is that the bra boasts an interesting texture. Some of the grommets I used are flat and others are rather pointy giving my new favorite accessory a sort of Kate Lanphear/Rihanna-esque quality. High five for high fashion!
As a devout reader of both jak&jil and Olsens Anonymous, I often time come across images that inspire me to get crafty. This picture of Ashley Olsen gets me going for several reasons, but one of the most integral components of her look is the peekabo bra. Similarly, this regular and somewhat un-sexy grey tank top takes a walk on the wild side with that intentional sliver of silver sequins. My friends and I often wear lacy bras with low-cut tank tops, but now I want to take it to the next level. I want to create a bra that completely upstages my shirts altogether. Stay tuned for the results.
